Education and Training Centres

University Training Hub

The project was to supply, install, and commission all aspects of this new build training and education centre for Hampshire County Council, strategically situated within the confines of an existing college campus. This initiative aimed to enhance the educational infrastructure of the region, providing a state-of-the-art facility that would cater to the diverse learning needs of students and educators alike. The scope of work encompassed the comprehensive mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) design and build, ensuring a seamless mechanical and electrical fit-out of the entire building. This meticulous process involved careful planning and execution to meet the specific requirements of the centre and to align with the overall vision of Hampshire County Council.

The new building is designed to be a hub of learning and collaboration, housing a modern library that serves as a resource-rich environment for students and faculty. This library is equipped with the latest technology and an extensive collection of books and digital resources, fostering a culture of research and study. In addition to the library, the facility includes seminar and meeting rooms that are designed with flexibility in mind, allowing for various configurations to accommodate different group sizes and teaching styles. These spaces are equipped with advanced audio-visual systems to facilitate presentations and interactive learning experiences.

Moreover, the centre features social study spaces that encourage collaboration and group work among students. These areas are designed to be comfortable and inviting, promoting a sense of community and engagement among learners. Additionally, a Costa Coffee shop is integrated into the building, providing a convenient spot for students and staff to relax, socialize, or grab a quick bite between classes. This café not only adds to the social atmosphere of the centre but also supports the overall well-being of the users.

The project also includes the installation of low-voltage (LV) infrastructure, which is crucial for powering the various systems and equipment throughout the building. Information and Communication Technology (ICT) systems are implemented to ensure robust connectivity and access to digital resources, supporting the modern educational environment. Fire safety is a paramount concern, and as such, advanced fire detection and alarm systems are incorporated into the design to ensure the safety of all occupants.

Furthermore, the building features automated natural ventilation systems, which enhance indoor air quality and energy efficiency by utilizing natural airflow to regulate temperature. Building Management Systems (BMS) are also installed to monitor and control the building's mechanical and electrical systems, optimizing energy use and maintaining comfort levels for occupants. The commissioning phase of the project is critical, as it involves rigorous testing and validation of all systems to ensure they operate as intended, meeting the high standards set forth by Hampshire County Council.
